Sep 29, 2016· Both machines are very capable, I was going to go with a PM-25MV initially but decided for the extra bucks more weight and spindle travel would be nice. I do work mostly in steel so top RPM was not a limiting factor. in the future I would like to change over to a three phase motor/ VFD to increase the speed range a bit.

Nice that you checked the loudness of the head, and it is very quiet for a gearhead. My last BF-30 mill was almost intolerable above 2500 RPM.

(I couldn't find it by googling, so hopefully the next guy can find this) It took me a while to get the Z axis leadscrew out because of the way the miter gears are installed. Turns out, you need to remove it all in a pretty specific order. Step 1. Lock the Z axis gibs so the head stays in place.

Not just paint and name, but tolerances and other items. For instance, lead screws are in inches rather than metric, ditto dials.
