They are mostly untouched due the fact they deep within tunnels filled with lv 57+ elite bugs. In most cases you will only need to take care of one elite bug in order to mine them.

I found one of these about 1 hour ago, i'd just got 300 mining so i went t Silithus, right at the side of CH in the hive was an ooze covered rich thorium vein.
